Day Two Bahamas Commonwealth Youth Games

New Zealand gets a Clean Sweep in boxing on the second day of the Commonwealth Youth Games. Both Kyle Ting Chen and Shylah Te Urang Waikai won their bouts with ease garrenting them both for a medal placement.

Taiwan Born New Zealander Kyle Ting Chen took on Walsh Jay Daniel Munn. Chen won the bout clear with 5 – 0 Pts. Chen still fighting off a flu type infection will be getting a well deserve rest tomorrow before taking on British Aaron Patrick Bowen in the Semi Finals.

New Zealander Shylah Te Urang Waikai took on Mozambique Boxer Helena Ismael Bagao. Waikai also won the bout very convincingly by 5 – 0 Pts decision. The bout was originally Scheduled for tomorrow according to the Commonwealth Games official website, but instead took place today. Waikai will now be going up against Scottish Megan Elizabeth Gordon in the semi finals after a day off tomorrow.

Samoan boxer Seanoa Hall lost his Quarter final bout against Northern Ireland John Moran. On the bright side two Samoan boxer remain in the tournament with both Damian Vaughan and Marion Ah Tong to fight in the Quarter finals tomorrow.

New Zealander Pelea Soara Fruean still has her quarter final bout tomorrow against British Sadie Thomas.

As for the other part of the commonwealth youth games, New Zealand is currently placed second in the Medal count with 7 Gold, 3 Silver, 4 Bronze behind England.
